SEBI to issue consultation paper on easing FPI compliance norms, aligning them with global standards: SEBI Chief Pandey
Regulator has eased access and compliance for foreign investors through SWAGAT-FI, net settlement of eligible cash-market transactions and other measures to improve ease of doing business

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) will issue a consultation paper seeking views on aligning India’s securities market compliance requirements for foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) with global standards, as it seeks to make the country a more attractive investment destination while safeguarding market integrity. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey, speaking at the Business Standard BFSI Insight Summit 2026 on Wednesday, said the regulator was reviewing requirements that remain more onerous in India than in other major jurisdictions.
