Two people were, however, killed and another two were injured due to falling debris. In the meantime, the US State Department has ordered the non-emergency US government employees and their family members to depart from Saudi Arabia. “As the Department has repeatedly emphasised, the hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly, including beyond that immediate area,” a State Department spokesperson told The Hill.

“The safety and security of Department personnel and their families remain our highest priority, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to protect and support them as they return to the US." However, given the current streak of hostilities in the kingdom, the leading Indian carrier recently extended its cancellation of flights to and from all Saudi ciies until October 24. Similarly, Air India issued the following statement, addressing the status of its operations in Saudi Arabia, on October 17: "In view of the prevailing situation, Air India and Air India Express have temporarily suspended flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam until 24 October 2026.

We understand that these disruptions may affect our guests' travel plans and are committed to providing as much flexibility as possible during this period." Meanwhile, global flight-tracking service Flightradar24 said on X that flights have been diverted away from the Dammam airport for the time being. "Operations at the airport have been halted since approximately 23:15 local time," the post added.
