A Punjab consumer commission has upheld an order directing a bank to refund Rs 72,495, with interest, to a Bathinda man whose bank account was hit by 11 allegedly unauthorised UPI transactions, The Indian Express reported. The bank has also been directed to pay Rs 5,000 as compensation and Rs 5,000 towards litigation costs, taking the total monetary relief to Rs 82,495, excluding interest. The Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission rejected the bank's contention that the customer must have shared or compromised his mobile personal identification number (MPIN) because the disputed transactions were authenticated using it.
