'Not a finish line, but a promise': Isha Ambani renews Dhirubhai's promise at Jio listing

“To our Jio team, many of whom are here today, you were our first teachers. You took this dream and made it yours,” she said, thanking them for their belief and dedication. Isha said Jio had generated about $15.5 billion in revenue and around $8 billion in earnings this year. She noted that few companies worldwide had achieved comparable financial performance in just 10 years. “Behind every number is a customer,” she said, thanking users for welcoming Jio into their homes, shops, classrooms and lives.

She reiterated the principle guiding the business: creating real value for customers would lead to strong earnings. Isha also thanked Manoj Modi for his guidance, saying she and her brother Akash Ambani had begun their careers under his mentorship. She acknowledged the support of her family, including Anant Ambani, Shloka Mehta and Radhika Merchant. Thanking her mother, Nita Ambani, she described her strength and grace as the foundation of the family and the Reliance group.

Isha praised her father, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani, for his vision and willingness to pursue ideas others considered impossible. “Again and again, my father has seen a future others could not see yet. Again and again, my father has found the courage to build what others called impossible,” she said. She added that Mukesh Ambani’s vision had opened up new possibilities and ambitions for hundreds of millions of Indians.

“Different industries, different decades, the same faith in India, the same unshakable conviction that our best is yet to come, and this is just the beginning,” she said. Isha concluded by thanking her father and family, saying she, Akash and Anant would continue to honour the trust of investors and customers while building on Dhirubhai Ambani’s legacy. Jio Platforms shares listed at a premium of 21.36% on Wednesday, opening at Rs 1,358 apiece on the NSE and BSE against the IPO price of Rs 1,119.

The debut gave investors a gain of Rs 239 per share. The Rs 30,200-crore initial public offering was subscribed more than 22 times during the bidding period last week, reflecting strong demand for the Reliance Industries-backed telecom and digital services company. The issue was priced in a band of Rs 1,065-1,119 per share, with the final price fixed at the upper end. The IPO comprised a fresh issue of shares, with proceeds going to the company.

Jio Platforms plans to use up to Rs 27,500 crore from the net proceeds to repay or prepay borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes. The listing marks a milestone for Reliance Industries' telecom and digital services business, which spans mobile connectivity, digital applications and enterprise solutions.
