The mutual fund industry’s closing AUM for the month of September fell over five percent to Rs 82.6 lakh crore compared to the previous month, as outflows from the debt categories along with lower mark-to-market valuations impacted the total value. According to ICRA Analytics, the AUM fell by Rs 4.4 lakh crore. Of this, a portion was from industry-wide net outflows of Rs 1.3 lakh crore, largely from short-duration debt categories, while the bulk of the fall in AUM came from adverse valuations.
