India curtailed 378.52 million units of available solar and wind electricity in September — enough to meet the monthly power requirement of nearly 1.9 million households consuming 200 units each — even as the electricity system struggled with tight supplies during evening hours, when solar generation disappears. Simply put, renewable plants had electricity available to generate during parts of the day, but were asked to reduce output because the grid could not absorb or balance all of it at that time.
