Agri-photovoltaics: Centre explores incentives to expand solar capacity on farmland
The Centre is considering incentives for agri-photovoltaics to unlock India's estimated 2,000 GW potential, expand solar capacity and reduce pressure on land and transmission infrastructure.

The Centre is exploring financial incentives to encourage agri-photovoltaics, a system that combines solar power generation with agricultural activity on the same land, as it seeks to expand renewable energy capacity without compromising food security, reported The Indian Express. The ministry is discussing a possible central sector scheme with the Ministry of Finance to encourage states to adopt the technology.
